About the Author

Willie Tisdale drove a New York City cab without any map or GPS. He knew all five boroughs, every avenue, and every one-way street by heart. The job taught him a simple lesson: the more you use your memory, the stronger it becomes.

He spent the next fifty years teaching that to other people. Truck drivers who needed to pass their licensing exams. Cab drivers. School bus drivers. Men and women with families to feed and a test standing in the way. He got them through it.

Somewhere in those fifty years he worked out why some people remember and others don’t. He’s a retired pastor who can name all sixty-six books of the Bible in order, then turn around and say the alphabet backward without pausing!

A Proven Approach to Better Memory

Inside the Book

Forget the myth that a great memory is something you’re born with. In Strategies to Improve Memory, Willie L. Tisdale shares the methods and techniques he has developed on how to remember more and forget less. He gave four things that separate the people who remember from the people who forget.

PACE. That’s the whole system, and it runs under every exercise in the book.

It will strengthen recall, improve focus, encourage deeper thinking, build better learning habits, and unbelievably keep your mind active. If you are looking to stay mentally sharp, this book has got tools you can use every day and develop lifelong confidence!

Why Readers Love This Book
  • Written in a conversational style that’s easy to follow.
  • Advice grounded in decades of real-world experience.
  • Suitable for both individual learning and family activities.
  • Encourages lifelong curiosity and continuous mental growth.

Why It Works Better

You write it down

Reading about memory does nothing. Doing the work does everything. There is a blank line on nearly every page, and it’s there for your handwriting.

It gets harder.

Recall six words. Then spell them backward. Then do it with your eyes shut. The book keeps raising the bar until you feel it.

You can’t cheat it.

Nobody grades this. Nobody’s watching. The only person you can lie to is yourself, and the score will tell you the truth anyway.

Willie Tisdale Shares a Fresh Way to Keep the Mind Active with Strategies to Improve Memory

NATIONWIDE — JULY 2026

Willie Tisdale is eighty-nine, and he can still name all sixty-six books of the Bible in order. The retired pastor has just released Strategies to Improve Memory, which is a book of games and drills that asks readers to give their memory a stretch.

Many people hope to keep their minds healthy as the years go by. Willie Tisdale believes that is only possible through simple habits people can enjoy every day. Rather than asking readers to sit through long lessons, Tisdale invites them to jump in. Each section encourages readers to take part in exercises that make learning an active experience. The pages welcome anyone willing to play along, making it easy for readers of different ages to join in.

A ten-year-old and a great-grandmother can each flip to a challenge that fits. One page has you map a room from memory; another flips numbers and words upside down. The mood stays light throughout as Tisdale wants you to grin along as you solve the challenges. The readers can open the book, try a challenge, come back later, and pick up where they left off. That flexible approach makes it even easier to fit into everyday routines.

Tisdale uses his years of teaching people how to remember important information. His experience led him to create a method he calls PACE, which encourages readers to strengthen their memory through consistent practice instead of quick fixes.

"A memory you tend to stays awake."

— Willie L. Tisdale

Throughout the book, readers will come across a wide mix of memory games, recall activities, word exercises, picture challenges, and brain tests. Every section introduces a new task so the experience stays lively while giving readers novel ways to stay engaged.

Faith also has a meaningful place in the book. Several activities invite readers to spend time with familiar Bible passages and Scripture-based memory exercises. This adds another layer for readers who like to bring faith into their daily routine.

Older readers are even closer to Tisdale’s heart, who are often under the impression that their most active years have slipped behind them. To them he responds gently yet concisely: a memory you tend to stays awake. He nudges readers to lean on their own knack and to look ahead and press on.

What also stands out is Tisdale’s own story. At eighty-nine, the retired pastor continues to demonstrate the techniques he has practiced for decades. His lifelong interest in memory grew through years of helping a variety of drivers prepare for their licensing exams. Those experiences birthed the ideas he now shares with readers.

The book is centered on progress rather than perfection. Readers can return to the activities as often as they like and enjoy seeing what they remember each time they pick the book back up. This is just one of the many perks.

Strategies to Improve Memory is your next best bet for improving memory. It gives readers an enjoyable way to stay mentally active and learn every day. Willie Tisdale shows that improving memory can begin with small steps and a willingness to keep learning at every stage of life.
